Solutions, Inc in Hudson, MA announced today that
it has been selected by NASA/Ames Research Center,
Moffett Field, CA to upgrade their FutureFlight
Central Control Tower Simulator with QXGA high fidelity
projectors.
FutureFlight Central (FFC) is a 360-degree, high
fidelity visual environment that simulates the look
and feel of an actual air traffic control tower
through the use of projected panoramic visual scenes.
The FFC is easily reconfigurable as a test bed for
any mission requiring an airport control tower viewing
capability. FFC is currently equipped with 12 JVC
SXGA resolution Projectors and rear projection screens
in a contiguous projection display configuration.
Under the terms of the contract, Display Solutions
will deliver and install 12 Sanyo QXGA resolution
7700 lumen Projectors. The projectors have the option
to be integrated with optical baffles and neutral
density filters for enhanced black level on night
scenes without visible image overlap from adjacent
channels. Video preprocessors manufactured by 3-d
Perception ( Asker, NO) will be installed to optimize
image edge matching, color matching and “hot-spot”
reduction. The design approach from Display Solutions
will make use of existing video peripheral equipment.
