Display Solutions, Inc. of Hudson, Mass., has successfully completed an upgrade of the visual systems in three ship bridge simulators at the Arab Academy of Science & Technology in Alexandria, Egypt.

As part of the academy’s overall upgrade, Display Solutions replaced existing CRT Projectors with Projection Design F3 solid-state single DLP Projectors. The projector upgrade included geometry correction, edge-blending and color-balancing electronics manufactured by 3d Perception in Asker, Norway. The electronics housed in a rack mount PC were installed between the existing image generator and the new projectors. Display Solutions also included newly released control software and GUI to remotely manage the projectors via a LAN. One 360 degree ships bridge visual system with 12 projectors and two 120 degree ships bridge part task trainers with three projectors each were upgraded by the Display Solutions installation team. Display Solutions also conducted training and maintenance courses for on-site support academy personnel.

Display Solutions worked on this project under prime contractor MPRI a division of L-3 Communications.
